Immigration

By Claudia Wright

Congress is set to propose the Dream Act 2010.  This bill would allow a path to citizenship for undocumented children that entered the country by age 16. It would require a criminal background check, payment of a fine, proof of tax payment, evidence of English language competency, and the successful completion of a U.S. civics test.

While this bill could initiate immigration reform, it is not a comprehensive immigration act; it will not affect the vast majority of undocumented worker in the United States.  Congress needs to look at this question with rigorous honesty and compassion.  Doing nothing gives businesses the right to create and maintain an underclass of workers to exploit; our resistance to enact reform is an offence to our country and our humanity.

Emphasis must be placed equally on the employers and the illegal immigrant. It is hard to fault a person for seeking employment to take care of his family, the employers that wilfully exploit the illegals are the ones that cause the problem. My answer is when the illegal immigrant is discovered he or she should be exported immediately and THE EMPLOYER SHOULD BE SENT TO JAIL immediately.

The word COMPASSION is what I like about Claudia Wright's statement . I am all for whatever we can do to help expedite the road to citizenship for as any immigrants who earn the opportunity.

If employers were not able to hire people in this country for fear of hugh fines and jail then they would not come. It is cost effective to hire these people and take the chance and plead they did not know. Those here should be required to pay a fine, undergo a background check (felons prohibited) and go to the end of the line for the right to work and live her. Children born to illegals should be provincial citizens as long as their parents are in process of becoming citizens. If their parent fail then so do the children. English should be adopted as the official language to stop the waste of printing forms in several languages. This would not prohibit people from hiring an inturputer at their expense.

Please do not allow Attorney General Shurtleff to pull the plug on ethics and integrity of the US Justice system.

Please ask him to hold Weber State University accountable to correct my student database and hence my immigration record they adulterated.
